Hello all, it's been a long time and I can't say that I've been the greatest leader ever but that's beside the point right now. It's no big secret that the game is closing now, and we have to make a decision to move into a new direction. I know it's not going to be easy and over the past two years I have had many memories with this team. I remember when it all started: Three, maybe four minifigs, with big plans and the desire to create a fun and engaging experience for players all over the game world. I've known some of you since closed beta and others I have not met at all. I've been busy with so much these past months and I'm sorry I couldn't keep the team going smoothly like I wanted to.
We don't really have much of a choice knowing that the game is going to close, and I'm certain signing an "online petition" isn't going to do anything. Games are made for fun, but if that game which took so many man hours to make falls short of making any money at all then there is nothing anyone can do. I would blame NetDevil for not making the game as open world as so many had hoped, but I also blame the subscription price which seemed ridiculous for the amount of content the game had.
Right now I see that we have three options:
1. We move on to a different game.
This option seems easiest and I have some games in mind already.
-Star Wars: The Old Republic MMO
-Minecraft
2. Ask NetDevil/Lego for permission to host a private server.
This seems extremely unlikely and I highly doubt they would let us.
3. Create our own game.
Always wanted to do this and there are plenty of tools out there for those who
have always wanted to make one.
-Unreal Engine
-XNA
-Cryengine
-Unity3D
I'll keep updating often now so don't worry. I'm not going anywhere.

Glad to see you again fusion! Don't know if you remember me or not, but no matter. Those are both great ideas and from what I've heard, someone is already making a minecraft server for the team.

I'd like to ask you a few questions, Fusion! First of all, WELCOME BACK! :D I've been through F2P and now finally have the game, but I could never meet up with you. :( Second of all, do you still have game time? Because we can at least enjoy the final months of LU as a team that way. Thirdly, a private sever actually is a possibility. I'm not saying anything for sure, but I've heard a few things from reliable sources that suggest this. Finally, our own game? By all means. If we want to make a MMO that would be a bit simpler to make though, I recommend 3D RAD. VERY simple to use, and lot of things are done for you, but you still have high flexibility and multiplayer support. It's worth a look. I love it. Either way, I'm really glad that you're back in control of this team where you belong! :D

I like the idea of using Unity3D and/or UDK, and also Blender works as the 3D Editor(free & open source, http://blender.org)
Minecraft also works, but it'll be a while 'till I get it, although Classic is beastly with MCForge. We won't be getting SWTOR, for its...content...
I also like choice #2, although it is highly unlikely.

doesn't really have to do with the creative aspect of LU, but DC Universe Online just went F2P, and if one person goes to member status then they could make a guild. putting that out there. been playing for a few days and it is amazing. I know it may not appeal to some people, but you know whatever. noticed there is a slight bit of rough language, but it's only occured for me twice within 22 hours of play. booster out.
also, welcome back fusion. good to be seeing you.
other comments: making our own game would take for freaking ever and it would also be... awkward.. who here even has the skill to make a fully functioning multiplayer game?! a minecraft server actually sounds like an epic idea, considering it's a relatively cheap game and you don't need very much computation power to run a server. my older brother had the ability to run one from an itty-bitty laptop. dedicated server hosting prices aren't that bad either. the game has the creativity aspect of L.U., but the open world and enhanced freedom it lacked.
i also hear roblox was pretty awesome at one point, but is now terrible. kinda like LU i guess. that might count as an insult :/
league of legends is also good too, but is comparatively groundbreaking and nothing like most of you have ever seen. imagine that you are a super powerful wizard. you have been enlisted to use your wizardry powers to summon the heroes of warring nations to do battle to solve their problems. you take control of a "Champion" and set forth to conquer the enemy. just found this somewhere: http://students.cis.uab.edu/jtorick/finalproject.html
it is a game like nothing i bet all of you have ever played. and it seriously requires some devotion to it. you will be as unskilled as an AVERAGE cat trying to swim in an olympic swimming contest. it it painful to begin, but rewarding when you actually get it down.

@Boost: Roblox didnt get worse. its kinda like LU, and (i hate to say this) sometimes more fun. U can make ANYTHING, i mean ANYTHING on roblox. an Ak-47? done. a warship that fires bunnies? done. A place to hang out with frieds? done. a Nexus Force Talon Dropship? done. (literally, i made one)
On roblox u can have an epic battle from the future, all the way back to the stone age. u can make an obstacle course, a team base, and a random place full of random things.
you can even make a full, fledged game. check this one out, and tell me roblox got worse. (rember, this link leads to a game thats in ALPHA! ya, i said alpha)
